ANDRES CERDEIRAS: “THE MARKET IS EVOLVING AND AT SOME POINT IT WILL BEGIN TO TURN, AND THIS TURNING POINT WILL BE DEFINED BY THE QUALITY AND THE AVAILABILITY OF THE FINAL PRODUCT”
The managing director of Industrias Cerdeimar doesn’t like to use the singular when he speaks about the company he co-directs in Camariñas and that is because for Andres Cerdeiras the success of the family run cannery consists primarily in teamwork. It was in 1884 when his great grandfather launched the factory which nowadays occupies a privileged position within the food sector, elaborating salting processes and subsequently canned products made with the best fish/seafood from the Galician coast.

The tradition of the two brands that Cerdeimar commercializes, “Boya” and “ Selección 1884” unifies the traditional with the modern and is a clear example of the companys´mainstreaming towards the new times and the latest technologies. A concern, that in 1995 led them to develop their own strategic plan, a roadmap that despite the crisis, the great Cerdeimar family is managing to follow step by step.
It is in this line that the presentation at the Feria Gourmet 2011 was framed, a restyling of its “Kitchen of the Sea” range, products based on fish with accompaniments and sauces presented in different formats, all the ingredients for a complete dish. During this interview, Andres Cerdeiras spoke at length of the past, present and future of Cerdeimar.
